MOVEMENT DETROIT

Since 2015, I’ve served as the resident VJ for the Pyramid Stage at Movement Detroit. I design and perform a full weekend of live visuals. Mixing custom and generative content, and improvised visual sequences that evolve with the music and crowd in real time.

The Pyramid Stage configuration and screen design are created by Gabriel Hall @lightbender, whose visual architecture has become a defining part of the stage identity. Building on that foundation, I tailor a new visual library each year specifically for this setup, programming and VJing in VDMX and MadMapper and performing live visuals throughout the festival.

In addition to my Pyramid Stage residency, I also created and performed visuals on the Movement Main Stage in 2016 and 2017 for select artists. Expanding my role within the festival and contributing to visuals on its largest platform.

Over a decade of this ongoing work has helped shape the visual character of the Pyramid Stage, enabled collaboration with a wide roster of international artists, and refined my approach to long-form festival visual performance at one of the most respected electronic music festivals in the world.

Movement Detroit is the city’s flagship electronic music festival held every Memorial Day weekend at Hart Plaza, celebrating Detroit as the birthplace of techno and electronic culture. Originally launched in 2000 as the Detroit Electronic Music Festival the event evolved through several iterations before Detroit-based production company Paxahau took over full festival production in 2006, stabilizing and expanding it into the internationally recognized Movement Music Festival it is today. Paxahau led by long time Detroit event producers with deep ties to the scene handles the festival’s creative direction, logistics, and partner relationships, bringing together hundreds of global DJs, producers, local talent, sponsors, and technical crews to deliver three days of cutting-edge electronic music, immersive sound design, and community programming on Detroit’s riverfront.
